How to prepare my matcha
Ready to take your tea ritual to the next level? At Yasumu Matcha, we believe preparing matcha isn’t just a routine—it’s a ritual that can shift the tone of your entire day. In this blog post, we’ll share a simple step-by-step guide to prepare our premium ceremonial-grade matcha for a calming experience.
What you need:
1–2 teaspoons of Yasumu Matcha powder
70–100 ml of hot water (not boiling, ideally around 80°C)
A bamboo whisk (chasen)
A matcha bowl (chawan) or a large cup
Optional: sweetener of your choice (honey, agave, or maple syrup) and milk for a matcha latte
Step-by-step instructions:
Sift the matcha powder
Start by sifting 1–2 teaspoons of Yasumu Matcha powder into your bowl. This helps remove clumps and creates a smooth, frothy drink.
Heat the water
Boil water and let it cool for a few minutes. The ideal temperature for matcha is about 80°C. Boiling water (100°C) can burn the delicate powder, so let it cool down a bit.
Add water
Pour 70–100 ml of hot water over the sifted matcha powder. You can adjust the amount to your taste—less water for a stronger flavor or more for a lighter brew.
Whisk it well
Use a bamboo whisk (chasen) to whisk the matcha in a zigzag motion (not circular) until it’s foamy and fully mixed.
Taste and adjust
Once whisked to your preferred consistency, take a sip. If you’d like it sweeter, add your favorite sweetener and whisk again. For a creamier drink, add some milk to make a matcha latte.
Serve and enjoy
Pour your beautifully prepared matcha into your favorite mug or drink straight from the bowl. Take a moment to appreciate the vibrant green color and aroma before your first sip.
